Should businesses invest in Presentation Training?

In the current economic situation, companies are under more and more pressure to be efficient and to use less outside help. But economising means walking a fine line: no business wants to overspend on unnecessary overheads, but no business wants to miss out on sales leads or new partnerships because they haven’t invested in expert help. When it comes to PowerPoint presentations, many companies are striking a halfway point, by using Presentation Training.

PowerPoint innovation can be tricky to navigate in a business environment. For the vast majority of businesses – especially those with a heavy sales element which requires regular presenting to potential new leads, or those with complicated internal structures which need lots of formal communication between levels or department – great PowerPoints are an absolutely integral part of doing business. And because executives and sales people are often too busy to really invest time into creating the design and narration elements of each PowerPoint, it’s become common practice to turn to an external agency to create a truly memorable presentation incorporating technical skill, creative communications techniques and great graphic design.

But some companies just don’t have the budget to call in an agency whenever they need a good PowerPoint – or feel that no agency can know the subject in hand (whether that’s a project, plan, product or new idea) as well as the internal people working on it.

However, those people have often had no presentation training at all and are flying blind with regards to their communication, structure and design techniques. Getting no outside help at all for PowerPoint designs can result in unconvincing presentations, and audiences who leave feeling bored, unenthused or confused – and each of these reactions is of course disastrous for businesses hoping to do business with those audiences!

The halfway point, of sending key executives or sales people on advanced PowerPoint training, can be extremely useful. As a one-time expense, it works out cheaper than paying for each individual PowerPoint needed, because after the initial expense employees will be able to quickly create great PowerPoint presentations whenever they need to. And it has the added bonus of making employees feel confident, secure and trusted.

Well-trained employees have a confidence which shows up in business suites and presentation rooms; and because they’ve created the PowerPoint presentations themselves they’ll feel more at ease with them, removing any risk of getting caught out by a slide they hadn’t expected or a communication style that doesn’t feel natural. After Presentation Training, sales people and business people can walk into any presentation room secure in their skills and in their presentations.
